“The fun of cooking comes from making the recipes your own.”At Pomona Hope’s Healthy Eating Workshop held on the second Friday of every month, former Chef Dorothy shares her 40 years of experience as a professional chef with the Pomona Hope community. Pomona Hope strives to keep faith central in all of its efforts. Through weekly Bible studies, students learn about the lives of God’s people and apply the wisdom to their own lives. For the past 10 years, the Troopers and Braves (K-3rd grade) Bible study has been led by Marlene Linthicum, wife of Dr. Robert Linthicum, founding board member. While guiding the students through the story, Marlene asked them to read and participate in discussion. Afterwards, I talked with students about the study: Yeily, a third grader, said, “It’s really good! Marlene knows a lot about the Bible.” For several years, Marlene hoped for a bible study for all ages at Pomona Hope. This dream was realized in 2014! The Conquerors (Upper Elementary) Bible Study is led by Pastor Danny Wood of Baseline Community Church. Pastor Danny reiterated how ultimately it was God responsible for knocking the walls down, not His people - emphasizing God’s great power. This weekly practice of studying the Bible gives young people tools to embrace truths from the lives of God’s people. The studies combine learning and applying God’s word in meaningful ways!
